I didn’t have to go too far to get that picture, but I definitely was thinking about the On Santa’s needs coffee list christmas coffee sweatshirt in addition I really love this idea of the model’s skin, and skin being so fragile—and that the meat had been skinned. All of the carcasses were just hanging perfectly in the space. The idea [for the picture, Caroline Trentini, Meatpacking District] was that it was about cold and the skin, and we did several pictures with ice, and I remember we had [model] Caroline Trentini in a red trench coat, but she looked just like a fashion model in a meat locker. At the last minute, Phyllis said, “Hold on a second,” and took off the coat, and that’s when the picture happened. That’s the great thing about working with an editor—and I would say this about Phyllis—is that they really help you make a picture. I think that when Phyllis was looking at this as we worked, she felt like it was a fashion image, and not a photograph. She’s daring enough to say, “Let’s just do this.”

P.P.: This was for treatment products that protect skin from the On Santa’s needs coffee list christmas coffee sweatshirt in addition I really love this cold. I talked to Steven about the article, and his idea of cold was to shoot in a meat locker. (It was the wrong time of year for cold in New York. It wasn’t winter.) Somehow Anna approved this idea! We went to a meat locker in the Meatpacking neighborhood and spent the entire day trying to get a good picture of Caroline Trentini wearing a trench coat in that place. The photo wasn’t interesting. It just looked like she’d wandered into a meat locker by mistake. The question was, how do we make it interesting? We’d finished shooting, we weren’t happy with it, but it’s what we had. Caroline had to catch a plane and was already in her own clothes, one foot out the door. At the last minute—and I hate to take credit for this—I said to Steven, “Let’s do her nude.” And then, of course, we couldn’t publish a nude, so she took off her clothes, we gave her black tights and stilettos, plopped on the red bob…and she was cold and looked cold. That was the picture. In the trench coat she could have been anybody choosing a steak for dinner. She had to become a Steven Klein woman. The red hair, the red meat, and the photo tinted with this cyan color—it’s his favorite color. The thing about working with Steven…we’re both searching for a memorable image and will go to any lengths to get it.

I love this top. Better quality than I was expecting. I bought it for the funny on the front but it’s actually a really good shirt (ladies long sleeve tee). It arrived several days earlier than estimated.

Amazing t-shirt, I absolutely love it, my only wish is that I got the next size up as it’s a bit tight now it’s been washed.
